Celsus — About
There is a ceiling, and it is made of admin
01—Why it exists
Almost nobody is capped by how good they are at the work
A plumber, a dentist and a mobile mechanic have the same problem and none of them describe it the same way. The work takes both hands. The phone rings during it. The quote does not get written until nine at night, the booking lives in three places, and by the time anyone follows up the customer has gone elsewhere.
None of that is a skills problem, and none of it is a demand problem. It is that a business run by one person can only be as big as the hours left over after the actual job — and the usual way out is to hire, which means a salary, super and a person to manage before they have earned you a dollar. Most businesses cannot make that jump in one step, so they stall at whatever one person holds.
What has genuinely changed is that a lot of that admin no longer needs a person at all. Something can pick up on the second ring, know what you do and when you are free, and put the job in the diary before the caller has hung up. That was not buildable five years ago. It is now, and it costs a fraction of the salary it replaces.
We started with the phone because it is the worst of the leaks, but the phone is not the point. Every hour of admin that can be handed to a system is an hour of capacity back, and the website, the booking page and the automation are the same argument applied further along. That is also why we will happily tell you the phone is not your problem.
Plainly
You were probably sent here by a phone call, so here is the part most companies make you work out for yourself.
We are small and new
That is the trade. You will not be handed to an account manager or wait in a queue behind bigger clients — and equally, we cannot take on the whole market this month. If we are not the right size for you, we will say so on the first call.
We have no case studies yet
There are no logos on this site and no testimonials, because inventing them is the one thing that would tell you exactly what we are. What we have instead is a working system you can ring and interrogate yourself.
So we prove it, not promise it
You get a number to call or a site to click through, built on your own business, before you commit to anything. Be difficult with it. That is a much better test than anything we could write here.
02—How we work
Three commitments, and you can hold us to them
- 01
You talk to the person who builds it
There is no account manager between you and the work. Whoever sets your systems up is whoever answers when something is wrong with them.
- 02
We say no in writing
If the honest answer is that you need a person, or a bigger system than we build, or nothing at all — you get that in writing rather than a workaround with an invoice attached.
- 03
You own what we build
Your number stays your number, your domain stays yours, and your customer data is yours to take with you. Leaving should cost you a conversation, not a rebuild.
03—Where we stand
What we will not pretend
The receptionist is the part of this with the most caveats, so it gets them in full. It is not a person. It does not read a room, it does not know your regulars by their voice, and it should not be the one talking to someone who is upset. We build it to recognise those calls and hand them to you, and we would rather it handed over too often than not often enough.
It also does not run on Australian soil. The speech recognition, the language model and the voice all come from providers overseas, which means your callers’ words travel. We are not going to dress that up — every provider is named on the privacy page, and if it is a problem for your industry, say so early and we will tell you whether we can work around it.
And it will get things wrong — a name misheard, a question answered off the wrong note, a booking put in the wrong slot. Every one of those is a conversation you can read back afterwards and a rule we can change. That is the deal on all of it: not perfection, but nothing hidden and everything fixable.
The same honesty applies to the rest. Automating a broken process gives you a faster broken process, a new website will not fix a business nobody can find, and sometimes the real answer is that you need one more pair of hands and no software at all. When that is what we think, that is what you will hear.
Ready when you are
Start with what is going wrong.
Not with what you think you need to buy. Describe where the business is stuck and we will tell you which end of it to fix first.
